Best Small Wine Cooler – A Comprehensive Review

That depends on what you mean by “smallest.” Wine cellars are usually around 500-600 cubic feet. If price is no object, you can go down to about 50 cubic feet. Some of our customers have found that an insulated closet makes a very nice wine cellar.

The smallest capacity for a small wine cooler that you can buy is about 90 bottles. This size is fine for any kind of storage, but it will probably not be enough if you are thinking of using this as your main storage. In most cases, small wine coolers are less expensive when considering purchasing price over time. A larger wine cooler will cost more initially, but it will use less power to cool the same amount of space over a year. In general, smaller wine coolers are less expensive to purchase and install, but they cost more to operate.

They all do the same thing – chill your wines. Look for a unit that has a compressor built into the unit. The compressor is the “heart” of your unit, and it will last longer if completely enclosed (rather than using an exposed condenser on the back). Compressors are rated by BTUH or Watts input – look for one that has at least 4 BTUH per cubic foot of storage space.

The best way to regulate the temperature is to leave it on all the time. You can also just turn it down to about 50°F, and turn the unit “off” so that no cooling occurs. Then use your thermometer to check back frequently to make sure you don’t have too many fluctuations in temperature.

They use more power than an air conditioner would, but the difference is small – it costs about 5 cents per day to run a 10-bottle cooler. If electric rates are high in your area, you may actually save money by using a small wine cooler.

Try not to put these in an extremely cold or hot location, as it will take a long time to reach the desired temperature.

Make sure the area around the appliance is always clean, dry and free of any materials which can conduct electricity (such as carpeting, aluminum foil, etc.).

Due to the fact that these are electronic appliances, they must be cleaned with a dry cloth. Never use any liquid or spray cleaner, as this can damage the unit. Since all surfaces are finished with either stainless steel or plastic, you can do a quick wipe-down once per week to keep your appliance looking great. If you have hard water stains on your cooler, try using vinegar and salt to remove – mix these together in equal parts, then spray onto the surface of the cooler. Allow to sit for at least two hours, then use a sponge or cloth to remove. You can also try using baking soda, but it may take several applications.

Some people have concerns that small units won’t get cold enough – this is not usually the case, as they often get colder than you would imagine. Also, do not mistake these appliances for “beer coolers” – these are designed to hold different amounts of wine bottles than beer or soda. They will also use more power than a beer cooler, so it needs to be plugged into an outlet rather than connected to your home’s water system in order to function properly.

This depends on how you live. If you have a small amount of wine at home, it is actually more environmentally friendly to simply keep that in an open container in your refrigerator or countertop – this will give the wine a chance to breathe, and is also more convenient for use. If you have more wine at home, or are very serious about your wine – a wine cooler may be right for you!

This depends on how many bottles of wine you own, as well as personal preference. It’s not recommended to keep large amounts of wine in a small cooler, as this will reduce the temperature even further and may cause damage to your bottles.
